About Sama Academy
We are teachers before anything else — reciters, memorizers, and parents who wanted Qur'an education that is personal, serious, and gentle at the same time.
Why "Sama"?
Sama (سما) is Arabic for sky. The Qur'an descended from the sky, the angels rose through it carrying deeds, and every student of ours — from Manchester to Melbourne — sits beneath the same one. We wanted a name a seven-year-old in London and a grandmother in Cairo could both say easily, and a promise inside it: however far apart we live, we learn under one sky.
The academy began with a simple frustration: group classes where children recited for three minutes and waited for thirty. We built the opposite — an academy where every single class is one teacher and one student, where progress follows a written curriculum, and where kindness is a hiring criterion, not a slogan.
What we hold ourselves to
Ihsan — Excellence
Recitation corrected to the standard of the chain, teaching held to the standard of the craft.
Rahma — Gentleness
Correction that lifts, never shames. Students should leave every class taller.
Amanah — Trust
Your children are an amanah with us: vetted teachers, recorded progress, open doors for parents.
Sabr — Patience
The Qur'an is learned in years, not weeks. We plan for the long road and celebrate every station.
Our teachers
Sama teachers are certified reciters — most carrying an ijazah with a connected chain — who pass a recitation audition, a live teaching demonstration, and a conduct interview before meeting any student. They teach in Arabic and English, and they write a short progress note after every single class.
